About

My name is Morgan Kibby, and I play in a band called M83 as well as a new solo project, White Sea.

MANIFESTO:  I have started this blog as a way  to not only show-and-tell the musical endeavors of White Sea, but to share the endless creative adventures that my friends and I embark on, most of which never see the light of day, whether that be on an album, in a cinema, on a crisp white gallery wall…  We are brimming and spilling “it” into an illusive forum and no one is there to catch us or witness.  But!  We are brimming and spilling the most important things, the things that need to be shared:  In other words, this is not a blog created with the intention of talking about shampoo or what I ate for breakfast.  I’m hoping that this can be a place to funnel all things creative that would normally stay buried on a hard-drive.

I will focus mainly on curated photo series, new music that needs to reach your ears, White Sea news, and eventually videos which myself and collaborators, i.e White Sea, will compose music for.  Ultimately, I want to include YOU dear reader, because lord knows we are all brimming and spilling!  Until then, enjoy the blog, and thank you for visiting.

  2. I love you and M83. I just saw you guys in Orlando. You rock. I’m a big fan !

  3. I will get to the point every now and then that I think human beings are nothing more than politely savage animals. Then I hear something like Midnight City and realize animals could not have created something so breathtaking and inspiring…only beautiful souls. Thanks for restoring the faith.

  4. Your show last night in Pomona was breathtaking! I hope m83 pays you a lot because you are the star of the show. Thanks for driving the emotive, you make the music soar and give it every drop of your soul!

  5. Hello Morgan,

My friend Heather and I just saw you and Anthony perform in Portland! Hands down it was the best live performance I’ve seen in a very long time! You and Anthony have very complimentary voices. We are from Seattle and tried to get in to the Seattle show at Neumos but it sold out quickly. Luckily we were able to see you guys in Portland, I’ve been a huge M83 fan for a few years now and I am so glad that you are part of the M83 Project. I’m also loving the work you are doing with White Sea! I look forward to hearing more when new material is available.

In conclusion, You have an incredible talent and you have made every moment that I indulge in your music a special one. Watching you and Anthony perform has lifted my spirits this weekend. Your music has helped me through an incredibly difficult time this year and I thank you for that.. I am grateful for all that you do and I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors!

  6. This summer, eh? Can’t come soon enough!

Ahhh yes! That’s so sick! That night was incredible. My friend Adam and I drove from Nashville to see you guys play. By far the best Halloween in a long time.

Best of luck on the rest of the touring!

  7. Hello Morgan! I’ve been a huge fan of M83 for years, and am just now diving into your other musical projects. I am absolutely in love with …and the moon was hungry… It’s absolutely breathtaking. This Frontier is also fantastic. I hope to hear more music from you soon!

P.S. I recently saw you with M83 on halloween in Atlanta. I screamed, “I love you, Morgan!” as loud as I possibly could, and it looked like you heard me. That made my night.

    • I’m so thrilled you like my music! more music hopefully this coming summer… 🙂 Also, I TOTALLY heard you in Atlanta! love you right back.

  12. Hi Morgan! Your music is fantastic! Would love to talk to you about using one of your songs for a project I am working on.

  13. I forgot to mention how I love the places that your music takes the mind. Your voice is like an instrument that guides one to some place way back in childhood. The first time I heard you sing it was like the first time I heard Jeff Buckley’ Mountaineer is such a work of art. Did you write all of the versus and the music? I know what the song means to me, but what does it mean to you?

    Eddie

    • Eddie,

Thank you for all your kind words… It’s pretty wonderful to know that White Sea songs take you somewhere special, that’s definitely the intention :)( I wrote all of the music and produce the tracks myself as well.) The song is about my father actually, he was a mountaineer in Oregon as a young man, fascinating stories from a fascinating man that I draw a lot of inspiration from.

  14. Hello Morgan,

It is strange to have typing keys to flip endless verse into gray noise, To reach the eyes of anyone within seconds. It can place our souls on a platter and scatter shards of ourselves to the ends of the universe. To bleed empty midnights on canvas, or into glass paged notebook is not in fashion. The spoon seems to be a shovel now, It gets fed to us and our dreams take the shapes of a billion and one hits to a blank page media. Hope is beautiful, It comes to us from the random drops we feel touching or minds when we find ourselves in the deserts of our hearts. Life becomes a flood when we open our thoughts. The brimming and spilling is our attempt to learn how to swim when the water gets too deep, when we choose to venture out to that gorgeous horizon. If there were no fear of drowning there would be no need for artists like yourself, or for pages like this. Hope is beautiful!

  15. Your take on Lord Huron is flooring. It took me apart cell by cell and put me back together again.

Never has a song enveloped me the way it did.

It would be hyperbole to consider these words hyperbole, as they are more genuine than every heart beat.

I am melodramatic, you are brilliance.

    Forever gracious.

    • Wow, this is so incredible to read. Thank you so much Tyler for your sweet sweet words. It was such a pleasure to work on. Glad it touched you my friend. x

  16. Holy freaking hell, I looooove what you are doing! After picking up the Sychronize EP (which I’m obsessed with), your remix became a standout track. Cannot give enough praise to both — your Frontier Ep and your remixes. I fully admit that I dl 80% of my music (can’t afford it), but I proudly bought yours. Keep up the good work!

    • Zach, thank you so much man! Thank you for your comments and your support of my work… Can’t wait to share the remix EP with you! ❤

  17. Morgan,
you have such an amazing voice! I’ve been listening to “This Frontier” for like a month now and I’m so taken away by the vocals and sounds you have created! Each song is so unique. Can’t wait to hear more songs & musical explorations from you in the future. (& with M83) 🙂
    Take care!

    • Thank you so much for your kind words Michael… It’s always so gratifying to hear when people are digging the music! So much new music coming your way soon my friend, promise! 🙂 x

  21. I’m so sorry for that, i know how annoying those kinds of things can be. I think unfortunately it’s a WordPress issue… I will of course look into whether I can do something about it though!
